Chiang Mai, Chiangmai, (in Thai: เชียงใหม่, according to the Royal Thai General System: Chiangmai, which means “new city”), nicknamed the “Rose of the North”, is the sixth-largest city in Thailand (the second-largest considering the agglomeration as a single city, cultural and economic centre of the North of the country and capital of the province of Chiang Mai. The municipality of Chiang Mai covers Si Phra Singha, Ya Chang, Chang Chang, Wat Gate and Pa Tan. It also covers parts of Chang Phuak, Suthep, Pung Sun, Nong Hoi, Tha Sala, Nong Pa Phuang and Fa Ha.
